“Queen Anne’s Lace. The 30 Foot Dish. Sound Mirror, Denge.”

This is part of a series of works which focus on brutalist architecture on the South Coast. The series depicts the gigantic concrete 'listening ears' built on an island in Romney Marsh in the 1930s to detect enemy aircraft, but became obsolete before World War II and fell into disrepair. The entire area retains an energised and mythological character, like the ancient ruins of a half forgotten civilisation.

An original artwork by Daniela Maria Gargiulo.

This is a collage of painted paper on canvas board, framed in a simple obeche wood tray frame (handmade in UK), finished with refined beeswax.

Framed artwork size H 21.2cm x W 21.2cm x D 1.5cm.

This piece is exhibited at Rock Paper Scissors art show at Hastings Arts Forum from 27 May–7 June 2026.
